Clio, the muse of history, must have a great sense of irony or is chortling, "gotcha last." German Jews, until the deportations of 1941, wanted desperately to be considered as German as any other. But nearly all Germans willingly acquiesced the idea of Aryan superiority or actively participated in the "Final Solution." Two generations later, out of some sense of guilt but also because of the widespread idea that all cultures are equal, German is swamping itself with an alien culture that rejects assimilation. Given its lack of confidence as a society, combined with its perilously low birthrate, what will become of the most populous and richest country in the EU? Yours truly, Larry Greenberg
