Sinking of the Indianapolis

Sinking of the Indianapolis
Saturday evening we went to a presentation at the Seventh Day Adventist Church (which we knew because the small Anglican church we have been going to meets there). It was a presentation, or rather an interview, with Melvin Jacob of Sun Prairie, WI a WWII Marine who survived the sinking of the cruiser Indianapolis. It was the greatest loss of life at sea by a US ship. He was one of 317 survivors of a crew on 1,196. Spent four days in the water. Fewer than 25 are still alive today. Very interesting, we learned a great deal He is 90. Was glad to see me; "Another Marine!" They recognized all the veterans present. ~Bob
