We arrived home from visiting John and Donna Payne in
Folsom, Louisiana
late Sunday night. Spent Monday and Tuesday getting unpacked and setting things
to rights. Then Tuesday night, Bonnie received a call that Britnye's dad,
Otoniel Vela, was in the hospital in Phila and was dying. She, Britnye and
Julie (Britnye's mom) took off Wednesday morning, and Bonnie drove straight
through, over 900 miles, getting there about 1:00 am our time.
Oto's mom flew in from Peru . He has had leukemia since
Britnye was born in 2000. It finally got the best of him. He was intubated, but
seemed to know them. Britnye got to hold his hand and say she loved him. He
died today (Friday, May 13, 2016). He was 54.
Oto was a very hard-working decent guy, with a sunny
personality. We will all miss him.
