Too much news and comment to hold for tomorrow

I got through the backed up email, though I had to delete a lot unread. But there was enough that I better post today. Enjoy. ~Bob

General News and Comment

Renewing the American Idea. By paul Ryan
Excerpt: What is the American Idea? In short, it is self-government under the rule of law. It is rooted in our respect for the rights with which we are each endowed, a respect that shapes a society where every person can work hard, achieve success, and advance in life. (This essay by Congressman Paul Ryan is outstanding. Though unquestionably ideological, he mostly avoids being partisan, criticizing laws and attitudes rather than people or parties. It also gives an insight into Ryan's thoughts should he decide to become a candidate for the Presidency. PS: if you get to read this while it is still the current issue--July-August 2014--it's followed by a pretty good essay by former Senator Jim Demint. --Ron P.)

The Obama Doctrine: Pretend You Give a Damn Until You Don't Have To. By Ben Shapiro
Excerpt: Barack Obama is an emotional pro and a foreign policy dilettante. And that is an extraordinarily dangerous combination. Popularity is the Obama Doctrine. Ironically, the end result is massive unpopularity – it turns out that world events require prolonged and sustained action rather than posturing. More importantly, the end result is massive casualties.

Excerpt: Alaskan artist Victoria Schultz sent a “Cease and Desist” letter through her attorney to the Mead Treadwell campaign today, after it was caught infringing on her copyrighted material.

Excerpt: Garry Cobb played football for USC and then for 11 years with the Philadelphia Eagles. He is now running for New Jersey’s 1st District seat as a Republican, and his explanation of why he is no longer a Democrat is very compelling. Explaining that he kind of discovered that he was Republican due to his upbringing, he said that the massively negative effects of Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty had the most impact:

Excerpt: Planned Parenthood enabled a sexual abuser to prey on a 13-year-old girl over and over. It appears to have broken state law in ignoring the repeated rapes and abuse and, now, it won’t comment on the record.

Historic fail? Greatest Americans missing from proposed curriculum. By Joshua Rhett Miller
Excerpt: New history curriculum standards proposed for top high school students leave out such American icons as Benjamin Franklin and Martin Luther King, Jr., paint colonists as bigots and gloss over the Greatest Generation's fight to save the world from Nazi Germany, according to conservative education activists who want the framework delayed — and perhaps scrapped altogether. An open letter circulated by conservative education activists is calling on The College Board to delay implementing new Advanced Placement U.S. History guidelines, saying a “rising tide of opposition” believes the curriculum will take the nation’s classrooms in a bad direction. (This Is Absolute Madness. Who Are These People Who Write This Stuff. We Are Not Perfect, But There Is None Better. --Don. Not madness, Sir--part and parcel of the progressives campaign to denigrate American in the eyes of future progressives. ~Bob)

Has the College Board gone too far on AP U.S. History? By Carole Hornsby Haynes
Excerpt: AP history instructors are literally being forced to teach to the test based on the new anti-American, left-wing framework. If the instructors decide not to follow the new curriculum framework, the students will not do well on the SAT. If they do teach the new framework, it will be the last American history course for many of the students, who will have learned about America only what left-wing ideologues want them to believe. This affects not only public schools, but also private and home schools.

Sarah Palin Gives Response to Elizabeth Warren's Progressive Commandments. By Tony Lee
Excerpt: We believe that legal immigration helped make this country strong and vibrant. And that means welcoming law-abiding, hard-working immigrants who wish to come here legally and pledge their allegiance to the United States of America. Furthermore, we believe, as none other than Cesar Chavez believed, that illegal immigration hurts the country. It unfairly hurts working-class Americans of all races, all backgrounds who are seeking good-paying jobs, security for their families."

Leftist Billionaire Tom Steyer is Now America's Top Political Donor. By William Bigelow
Excerpt: For those who complain that the GOP is the party of the rich, consider this: according to, in the 2013-2014 electoral cycle, the leading individual political donor in the nation was billionaire Tom Steyer, the leftist hardliner, joined by his wife, who gave a staggering $20.4 million to Democratic and leftist causes.

Excerpt: Ms. Ham made a significant tactical mistake in attempting to clear the building by herself that could have resulted in tragedy if the suspect had also been armed.
Still, she managed to put a center-mass shot on a moving target in the dark, and the burglar is now in the hospital until he heals up enough to be transferred to jail.

First ad from Wendy Davis goes on attack in Texas governor’s race. By Diana Reese
Excerpt: Idealist that I am, I’ve believed that more and more women entering races could bring the focus back on the issues where it belongs rather than relying on character assassination and fear-mongering ads. But “A Texas Story, the first television commercial of the Davis campaign, hit the airwaves Friday. The 60-second spot, run in English and Spanish in multiple markets, is disturbing, complete with ominous music and a foreboding voiceover that begins by describing March 26, 1993, as “a pleasant spring day.” You know something terrible is about to happen.

Iraq and Vietnam: Democrats Lose Won Wars, Holocaust to Follow. By John Nolte
Excerpt: Your history teachers and professors don't tell you this; nor do media documentaries. But the Vietnam War was won and America won it. In early 1973, North Vietnam and the Viet Cong knew they were defeated, came to the Paris Peace Accords, and agreed to end their aggression against our allies in the sovereign and free nation of South Vietnam. With the war won, America pulled our troops. In order to keep the peace, we had to only agree to supply our allies in the South with any military hardware they would need should the North Vietnamese attempt to again invade the South. The Vietnam War was won… until Democrats chose to intentionally lose it. (This article is just outstanding, the writer refers to what happened in Viet Nam with accuracy, and very clearly. And points out what is going on today. How terribly tragic this is. And there is no way any of us can do anything about the horrific mess that is unfolding in Iraq and Syria right now, the beheadings of innocents (down to children in some cases), the genocide against non-Muslims, the conversions under very direct threat of death. Only our President could really do something serious about this, a mess he essentially created by pulling out as he did years ago, but we all can see he is reluctant to get involved at all, and is really willing to just leave hundreds of thousands of people to their fate, How do we, as Americans, take any pride in this? Or perhaps better said as, how do we not hang our collective heads in deep shame? And finally, someone ties Viet Nam to current events.... isn't that interesting? --Del)

Finally, the stories from "Re-education Camps" in Viet Nam
The link takes you to a website with several pages of the storiesfrom the camps, plus some facts and figures about them. This is information that no one in the antiwar movement ever wanted to hear, and in fact they refuse to hear them today. But they are real history, and off a telling view into the aftermath of the communist victory in Viet Nam. It's not a history to inspire pride in the "peace and justice" that were supposed to arrive in the South with the tanks from Hanoi. It is a history that may make you weep. The site lets you stroll through several pages, I recommend a look through them all. It won't take too long, but it's worth your time. --Del

Excerpt: During a visit to the Vietnamese capital on Monday, the ranking Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, said the Senate is considering lifting its ban on the sale of lethal weapons to Vietnam. The statement came amid a series of high-level meetings in the past month between Vietnamese and U.S. officials. The meetings repeatedly touched on Hanoi's request that the ban be lifted and for expanded ties in areas such as regional security, trade and commerce cooperation, and Vietnam's entry into the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Washington appeared more willing to reconsider the embargo as part of its ongoing response to the shifting security architecture in the Asia-Pacific region. (What kind of "lethal weapons" are we talking about? I really wonder what that means. I don't think it means M-16 rifles and some .45 pistols. They have plenty of AK-47 rifles, Russian artillery, tanks, AA guns, etc. (I wonder what level of ammo they have for all the stuff now. I don't think the Russians are giving the munitions away anymore. They are selling them six submarines, the best bet the VN have for a Navy that can discourage Chinese warships.) I'm guessing this would mean military aircraft and maybe some missiles, that's the kind of stuff they need if they are going to have any real dustup with China. How would they pay for it, they are not exactly flush with Western currency? There are a lot of questions here. --Del. any aid should e tied to verifiable improvements for the Montagnards, Christians, former S. Vietnamese soldiers and other oppressed group. ~Bob)

Natalie Tennant's Pro-Obama Past Comes To Haunt Her In West Virginia Race. By Matt Vespa
Excerpt: But when asked about her support of Obama earlier this week by a disgruntled West Virginia resident at a Democratic campaign event, Tennant walked a waffled line. The gentleman on the video expressed frustration over the EPA’s new regulations. While it didn’t help that a tracker captured this exchange, Tennant’s campaign manager, Major General Allen Tackett, didn’t do her any favors by interjecting saying that Tennant agrees with Obama on “most of his policies.”

A History Lesson For Jesse Ventura on His Hero Che Guevara. By Humberto Fontova
Excerpt: "The jury saw the evidence,” gloats Jesse Ventura regarding his judicial victory over Chris Kyle’s widow. “And the jury found that I had been defamed….Chris Kyle did lie and Jesse Ventura told the truth. I am a victim here." “Judicial evidence is an archaic bourgeois detail. We execute (and jail and torture and steal) based on revolutionary conviction.” (Jesse Ventura’s source of daily inspiration, Che Guevara, February 13, 1959.)

Obamanomics: Fed Study Finds 2 million in "Forced Retirement." By Mike Shedlock
Excerpt: If someone of retirement age wants a job and needs a job and needs income, but does not have a job, the choice (after unemployment benefits expire) is to retire. These people should be considered unemployed, but they are not. Instead they dropped out of the labor force. We can now put some numbers on "forced retirement" thanks to a Fed study that shows 40% of households show signs of financial stress.

Get Smart. What's the Deal with Xinjiang? Who's Killing Who. Who's Bad. Who's Good. The Skinny In-Depth. In Brief. (By Secret China aka China Gaze aka Vision Times)
Excerpt: Officially, Beijing loves all its minorities and encourages “harmony.” However, although supposedly directed at “rioters”, official statements show clearly what the government’s response will be to continued dissent. Xinjiang party (Communist party that is) secretary (the big chief) Zhang Chunxian said: “To fight such evils we must aim at extermination.” Does this answer the questions in the headline? Maybe not. To sum it up in more brevity: China’s Communist Party kills people at will for dissent.

Excerpt: The left trumpeted a voter ID decision in Wisconsin as if it were the end of the issue. Let’s see what they do with this one. A federal court today smacked down the Holder Justice Department and refused to enjoin (block) North Carolina’s voter ID law, curtailment of costly early voting and end of fraud-infested same day registration. This means the state’s voter ID law will be in place for the midterm congressional (and Senate) elections in November. (Holder and a variety of others who somehow think it's OK for the Democrat National Convention to require ID from those attending but it's not OK to require ID from those wanting to vote, have been taking a beating lately on their attempts to override the carefully written NC laws. (In a state which does have arrangements that make it easy for anyone to get a voter ID if they don't have one, as has been demonstrated more than once with actual cases.) There is no real reason to oppose voter ID today, it will not prevent anyone from voting who has the least desire and intention to vote in this state. Why it has been made the object of so much bitter and expensive opposition just puzzles the hell out of me. But maybe this will finally end this crusade by Holder, and gee, maybe the DOJ can find something better to do with the time and money that come from us taxpayers. Heaven knows there are enough crimes out there to be investigated that are real. Del. The WI Supreme Court upheld the Voter ID law. If voter ID laws are racist, how come Mexico has them? ~Bob)

China will create its own version of Christianity. By Peter Weber
Excerpt: China has a growing number of Christians, and that's causing increasing tensions with the officially atheistic ruling Chinese Communist Party. China's solution is if you can't beat 'em, co-opt them. "Over the past decades, the Protestant churches in China have developed very quickly with the implementation of the country's religious policy," says Wang Zuoan, director of the State Administration for Religious Affairs, according to the state-run China Daily newspaper. "The construction of Chinese Christian theology should adapt to China's national condition and integrate with Chinese culture," including its path of socialism.

Obama's Treachery and Republicans: When will they stop pretending this is a normal presidency? By David Horowitz
Excerpt: Barack Obama deliberately set out to lose the war in Iraq, and he did. He defied the advice of his joint chiefs of staff to secure America’s formidable military presence and keep 20,000 troops in country, and left Iraq to its own devices and the tender mercies of Iran. In doing so, he betrayed every American and Iraqi who gave his life to create a free Iraq and keep it out of the clutches of the terrorists.

Excerpt: The report emphasizes the myriad number of threats of which most Americans are well aware, including “a troubling pattern of assertiveness and regional intimidation on China’s part, the recent aggression of Russia in Ukraine, nuclear proliferation on the part of North Korea and Iran, a serious insurgency in Iraq that both reflects and fuels the broader sectarian conflicts in the region, the civil war in Syria, and civil strife in the larger Middle East and throughout Africa.” Other threats include ...

The Russians are coming: Russians strategic bombers conduct more than 16 incursions of U.S. air defense zones. By Bill Gertz
Excerpt:Russian strategic nuclear bombers conducted at least 16 incursions into northwestern U.S. air defense identification zones over the past 10 days, an unusually sharp increase in aerial penetrations, according to U.S. defense officials. The numerous flight encounters by Tu-95 Russian Bear H bombers prompted the scrambling of U.S. jet fighters on several occasions, and come amid heightened U.S.-Russia tensions over Ukraine.

Excerpt: Two national opinion polls released over the last two days reflect a deeply frustrated and pessimistic American public. The new NBC/WSJ survey, which tracks President Obama's approval to an all-time low in the series (40/54) and shows a slight Republican edge heading into November's elections, is bursting at the seams with negativity:

Orange County: Human trafficking arrests on the rise. By Adolfo Flores
Excerpt: The report also found that 65% of victims were U.S. citizens and the rest were from countries such as Mexico, China and the Philippines. The task force also identified victims from Iran, Kenya and North Korea for the first time. Nearly half were minors. Sex trafficking was the most common form of human trafficking at 81%, officials said. Victims were forced into prostitution, stripping and pornography.

Study: Dems talk about impeachment 20 times more than GOP. Rick Moran
Excerpt: Congratulations to Democrats are in order for near record-breaking fundraising based on the false notion that Republicans are going to impeach President Obama.
The problem is, they're virtually the only ones talking about the "I" word.
Dry California Fights Illegal Use of Water For Cannabis.
Excerpt: In July, Lake County enacted an ordinance that demanded that growers account for their water supply; as in Mendocino, the county also has a tip line to identify violators. ... Late last month, federal and state agents raided the Yurok Indian Reservation in a move requested by tribal elders to halt illegal marijuana farms whose water use threatened the reservation’s supply.

Ebola News

CDC Says Ebola Spread to America is ‘Inevitable’
Excerpt: The spread of Ebola to the USA is “inevitable,” said the head of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday. Tom Frieden made the statement in a House Subcommittee hearing, adding that he does not think there will be a “large Ebola outbreak” in the U.S. Does he think there will be small ones?

CDC issues highest level alert amid Ebola outbreak
According to the CDC, level 1 is “all hands on deck.” The CDC has only been to level 1 three times in the history of the emergency operations center, which opened in 2003. Previously, it was activated for Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the H1N1 influenza outbreak in 2009. The Ebola outbreak in West Africa has killed at least 932 people, according to the World Health Organization.

Border Patrol Agent: 'These People Are Coming Here To Do Horrible Things'
Excerpt: These people are coming here to do horrible things. .... And, “We're up against close to 50 years of lack of border enforcement by the U.S.government. We have two political parties that are unwilling to take real enforcement action, and we have had two administrations in a row that gutted enforcement actions by the U.S. Border Patrol, by ICE agents, that do not allow us to actually go to do our job.” (That "other army" POTUS dreamed about....arb)

Border Patrol Union Fights For Agent Killed By Illegal Aliens. By Ildefonso Ortiz

The Chinese Government at the Top Level: Meridian Idaho Company Out $2.5 Million on Green Energy Project.
Excerpt: It was a great deal. It was great work, and the Chinese really liked what we were doing,” Lea Electric President Dave Lemarque said. “They kept giving us more work and more work, and before you know it, a $1.5 million contract grew into an $8 million contract. They paid regularly, and it was great. For a while.” He said they then stopped getting paid. Once Lea and other subcontractors traced Hoku’s business structure, they realized they were ultimately dealing with the Chinese government at the top level.

John Kerry Tells Hungry Africans Not to Build Farms Because of Global Warming. By Daniel Greenfield blood for the Green Goddess.
Excerpt: “Certain agricultural processes can actually release carbon pollution and help contribute to the problem [of global warming] in the first place,” Kerry said. “Rather than convert natural areas to new farmland – a process that typically releases significant amounts of carbon pollution – we can instead concentrate our efforts on making existing farmlands more productive.” Or they could do both.

Excerpt: Over the weekend I was watching a video of a coal miner testifying at an EPA hearing attendant to the fella's coal mine being shut down. The EPA holds those hearings...not because they want to, but because they have to. The miner's testimony lasted 2 minutes and 32 seconds. He only spoke for a minute or so because he was so choked up that he could barely speak. He spoke about his family, his family's long history in coal mining and his lifelong dedication to delivering a source of affordable power for his neighbors. The fella then asked the EPA panel if they could be satisfied with the government paying out, first unemployment, then welfare checks and food stamps to the thousands of miners losing their jobs....the EPA folks offered no response.

Religion of Peace News

Worth Reading: Strategobama. By Andy Weddington
Excerpt: ISIS, the ruthless Religion of Peace radicals "army" causing havoc - death and destruction ripping people and things to pieces - in Iraq (and elsewhere) with aim to erect a caliphate, declared objective to raise their black colors in our White House.

U.S. expands airstrikes against Islamic State militants in northern Iraq
Excerpt: American warplanes and drones struck Islamist militants near this northern Iraqi city Friday, putting the U.S. military back in action in the skies over Iraq less than three years after the troops withdrew and President Obama declared the war over. (The war with the Islamists will only be over when they are all dead, we are all dead or everyone in the world conforms to their version of Islam, including a majority of Muslims who believe differently. And the Islamists don't agree among themselves as to the pure version of islam. So, never. ~Bob)

Excerpt: However, why was Barack Hussein Obama in such a rush to provide U.S. military resources in Libya supporting Islamist forces? We were told it was a humanitarian crisis, but it seems now hardly so. And please, don’t tell me it was just NATO — America is NATO. And now Americans know Libya as the place where an ambassador and three other Americans were killed in a terrorist attack, our embassy has been evacuated, and as we reported here, the same Islamists we supported have established a caliphate in eastern Libya.

Excerpt: Retired four-star General Barry McCaffrey hit out at Obama for not going far enough with the bombardment. 'We dropped three aircraft loads of water and food to 50,000 people in the mountains,' he told MSNBC. 'Now we're striking ISIS artillery units. It looks to me as if a lot of this is internal U.S. politics to show we're doing something.' He went on: 'I mean, if you're going to use military power, you have to write down your objective and then use decisive force to achieve your objective. So I'm a little dismayed at what we're up to here.'

Excerpt: The Islamic State has taken control of Qaraqosh, Iraq's largest Christian town, and other surrounding towns in an advance eastward into an area formerly held by the Peshmerga, the military force of the Kurdish Regional Government.

Rep. Frank Wolf: American ISIS fighters could return to attack U.S. By Mellisa Clyne
Excerpt: More than 100 Americans are fighting with the deadly terror group ISIS to help it achieve its goal of forming a caliphate — an all-Islamic state — ramping up the possibility that the violence will be transported to the United States, Republican Rep. Frank Wolf of Virginia told Newsmax TV on Friday. "There are over 115 Americans, American citizens with passports, who are part of ISIS, and there are several thousand Europeans from France, from England, from Germany, from Scandinavian countries, who are fighting with ISIS," Wolf said on "America’s Forum." "In fact one of them who went over to fight was from Florida, came back, went back, said hateful things on the Internet, and was killed in a suicide bombing.

Desperate Iraqi Yazidis flee into Syria after Kurdish forces secure escape route
Excerpt: Thousands of desperate Iraqi Yazidis who have been trapped by Islamist extremists on a parched mountaintop for almost a week trekked Friday into Syrian territory, seeking refuge in another war-ravaged country. Some managed to collect water and food that had been dropped overnight by U.S. planes before heading northwest on a 12-mile walk across mountains and desert to the Syrian border. (When you are fleeing to Syria for safety...~Bob)

Iraqi Children Thrown From Mountaintop to Keep Them From Islamic State Terrorists. By Dean Garrison
Excerpt: The dire situation has caused some families to make a seemingly incomprehensible decision. Forced with the bleak realization of their children dying of thirst or possibly being captured by Islamic State (formerly known as ISIS) militants, parents are making the unthinkable decision to throw their own children from the top of the mountain to end their suffering and bring about a quicker, and possibly more humane, death.

You want Nazis? By Mark Steyn
Excerpt: ISIS are fast-track Nazis. No messing about with a few property restrictions and intermarriage laws as a little light warm-up: They're only in the business of "final solutions", and they start on Day One and don't quit until the last Christian and Yazidi is dead or fled. As I've often remarked about today's exhaustively cleansed Maghreb, Levant and Araby, Islam is king on a field of corpses. But pikers like the Muslim Brotherhood, the Baathists, the House of Saud take their time. ISIS are shooting for the Guinness Book of Records. Fortunately, progressive opinion in the west hates Jews more than it loves Christians or Yazidi or Shia or Kurds, so ISIS can get on with killing everyone they want to kill.

Jihadists 'capture key base from Syrian army'

Gingrich: ‘Nobody Wants to Tell the Truth’ About Radical Islam. By Tina Nguyen
Excerpt: “Nobody wants to tell the truth,” he complained. “The truth is this is a radical Islamist group. They say openly if you don’t convert, we’ll kill you. It turns out they actually mean it. There’s no complexity…The president couldn’t even honestly describe ISIS last night because it goes against his ideology.”

Iraq bombs Sharia Court, Kills Islamic State's Sharia Judge. By Daniel Greenfield
Excerpt: In a tragic display of Islamophobia, the Iraqi air force carried out an air strike against an ISIS Islamic Sharia Court. Excerpt: The Islamic State, formerly known as ISIS, is continuing its two-month-old rampage across northern Iraq’s large, multi-cultural Nineveh province, intensifying religious cleansing and further consolidating its power. ...While much attention is being given to the destruction of Nineveh’s ancient monuments, the suffering of the province’s religious minorities at the hands of the jihadists is being given short shrift by both the media and our political leaders. Individual lives and entire civilizations are being destroyed, not in conflict – there hasn’t been much — but through the deliberate convert-or-die policies of the Islamist extremists. (Guess Caliphate IS a given....Barb)

Compare Hamas to Israel
Good graphic

Making David into Goliath. By Daniel Greenfield
Excerpt: David, for all that he was the underdog, did not set out to be liked. He set out to win. He took an insanely dangerous risk with faith that a Higher Power would help him accomplish the impossible. Israel came closest to that in the Six Day War. It is not Goliath, but it has also forgotten how to be David.

Gaza Underground Infrastructure Photos
Excerpt: Like peoples in simplest caves from the beginning and high-technological cities and nations today, Gaza constructs underground infrastructure to evade undercover all-INT full-spectrum attack exhibited in the first pristine safely-bunkered military industrial media photo. (The most terrifying detail is being uncovered that Hamas had a plan to attack all the settlements and kibbutzim in the area this year on Rosh Hashanah with an invasion of over 200 terrorists into almost all the settlements in the area. The tunnels went under the kibbutzim under the kindergartens and dining rooms and other areas within the kibbutz perimeters. They planned to occupy the whole area and kill as many Israeli as possible. This could have been the worst terror attack in the history of terrorism. Thousands of people, including women and children would have been slaughtered in this planned attack. --Larry)

Airstrikes, rocket launches continue after Gaza truce crumbles
Excerpt: Israel continued its air campaign Saturday and militants in the Gaza Strip kept launching rockets into Israel, as hostilities entered their second month with no permanent truce and more than 1,900 dead. Israel’s air attacks on Saturday killed five Palestinians, according to Gaza health officials. Two died when their motorcycle was struck in what appeared to be a targeted killing. Israeli forces said the two were “terror operatives.”

What Would Hamas Do If It Could Do Whatever It Wanted? By Jeffrey Goldberg
“Right now,” Wolpe said, “Israel is much more powerful than Hezbollah and Hamas. Let’s say tomorrow this was reversed. Let’s say Hamas had the firepower of Israel and Israel had the firepower of Hamas. What do you think would happen to Israel were the balance of power reversed?” “I don’t know what would happen tomorrow,” Cohen answered. ... Wolpe quickly told Cohen that he himself knows exactly what would happen if the power balance between Hamas and Israel were to be reversed.

Excerpt: Cenk Uygur, a host of the liberal/progressive show The Young Turks, wondered on Twitter where Hamas was supposed to fire their rockets from as if to dismiss the concern:

Glasgow city council flies Palestinian flag
Excerpt: The city council of Glasgow, Scotland, displayed a Palestinian flag on its building in solidarity with casualties in Gaza. Galloway probed for declaring his British constituency an ‘Israel-free zone’ Excerpt: Police in Britain are looking into complaints against a lawmaker who called for his constituency to be “declared an Israel-free zone.” George Galloway of the far-left Respect Party made the call during a speech over the weekend in Leeds, prompting an investigation by West Yorkshire Police.(My ancestor, Alan, Lord of Galloway, would be ashamed. ~Bob)

“We’ll fight Islam for 100 years, says ex-army head Peter Leahy,” by Brendan Nicholson
Excerpt: AUSTRALIA needs to prepare for an increasingly savage, 100-year war against radical Islam that will be fought on home soil as well as foreign lands, the former head of the army, Peter Leahy, has warned. Professor Leahy, a leading defence and strategic analyst, told The Weekend Australian the country was ill-prepared for the high cost of fighting a war that would be paid in “blood and treasure” and would require pre-emptive as well as reactive action. (Assuming that there are sufficient numbers of free people left in 100 years to continue the fight, the struggle will go on far longer than that. It will continue as long as there are people who believe that their god commands them to wage war against and subjugate those who believe differently. Peter Leahy’s assessment has the appearance of being tough-minded and realistic, but actually it is quite rose-colored. --Robert Spencer,
Excerpt: Mohammad Javad Larijani, the Head of the Human Rights Council of the Iranian regime's Judiciary said on August 5: "We are proud of our judicial system and we do not feel uncomfortable with Law of Retribution and even stoning."

World population = 7 billion. Muslim population = 1.5 to 1.8 billion. Percent fundamentalist Muslim = 15 to 25. Number of fundamentalist Muslims = 225 to 450 million. Percent of world population that is fundamentalist Muslim = 3.2 to 6.4. If 3 to 6% of the world's population had the flu it would be considered an epidemic. --George

The Twisted Path of Judeophobia. By Ari Lieberman
Excerpt: Europe likes to think of itself as enlightened but Operation Protective Edge and Israel’s counter-offensive against Hamas terrorism has highlighted the extent to which Jew hatred is still ingrained on the continent. To be fair, much of the anti-Semitism we are witnessing there manifests itself among the Muslims who have made Europe their home. But in all honesty, European authorities have allowed the malignancy to fester and metastasize to the point where it is now uncontrollable and threatens other non-Muslim communities.
