Syrian rebels get influx of arms with gulf neighbors’ money, U.S. coordination
Excerpt: Syrian rebels battling the regime of President Bashar al-Assad have begun receiving significantly more and better weapons in recent weeks, an effort paid for by Persian Gulf nations and coordinated in part by the United States, according to opposition activists and U.S. and foreign officials. Obama administration officials emphasized that the United States is neither supplying nor funding the lethal material, which includes antitank weaponry. Instead, they said, the administration has expanded contacts with opposition military forces to provide the gulf nations with assessments of rebel credibility and command-and-control infrastructure. (The odds of many of the people we are helping eventually killing Americans are, IMHO, rather high. We are, after all, infidels. That trumps everything for them. !~Bob.)

Deb Fischer pulls off upset victory in Neb. Senate primary
Excerpt: State Sen. Deb Fischer (R) pulled off an upset victory Tuesday in Nebraska’s GOP Senate primary, dealing a blow to both the Republican establishment and the Tea Party. Fischer, a rural rancher who has never held statewide office, had long been written off in the race to replace retiring Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.). But Fischer turned the table on her two GOP opponents in the final week of the campaign despite being out-fundraised many times over. (I hope she can win in November. See below. ~Bob.)

Kerrey Trails By Double Digits in Nebraska
Excerpt: Bob Kerrey has his work cut out for him as he returns to Nebraska to run
for U.S. Senate, a new poll from Public Policy Polling finds. Kerrey trails his most likely
opponent, State Attorney General Jon Bruning, by 17 points, 54-37. Kerrey also trails
two other potential opponents by double digits – he’s losing to State Treasurer Don
Stenberg 52-38 and to State Senator Deb Fischer 48-38.

Dems can hold Senate
Excerpt: But elections have a funny way of confounding even the surest predictions, and it’s increasingly evident that Mitch McConnell might want to hold off on ordering those new business cards.

Obama walks fine line in bashing Romney, courting Wall Street
Excerpt: While trying to define Republican Mitt Romney as an insensitive job-killer during his time as a private equity executive, the Obama campaign also is raising money from private equity executives on Wall Street - and hoping voters don't see that as hypocritical.

Obama Bundler Decries “Villification” Of Private Equity
Excerpt: Don Peebles, a Miami real estate executive who has raised more than $100,000 for the president’s campaign this cycle, told BuzzFeed “I think it’s difficult to attack or demonize an industry and then take money from it.” “I think it’s inconsistent,” he added. “I wonder why the leaders of that industry are supporting him.”

Obama's 'Vampire' Capitalists: Write the President a check and escape eternal damnation.
Excerpt: On Monday night Mr. Obama spoke at a fund-raiser at the Manhattan home of Tony James, the president of the private-equity giant, the Blackstone Group. Attendees, many from the private-equity world, paid $35,800 a head for the privilege of dining with the President who purports to loathe Wall Street when he isn't asking its greedy denizens to redistribute their wealth to his campaign. Mr. James donated the legal maximum of $35,800 to the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee in November 2011.

Only in #America could politicians talk about the #greed of the rich at a $35,000 a plate #campaign fund raising event.

CAIR Officials Demonize America on Iranian TV
Excerpt: Two officials representing the Council on American-Islamic Relations' New York chapter (CAIR-NY) turned to an Iranian television station this week in order to propagate the dangerous and oft-repeated narrative that the U.S. is at war with Islam and hostile to Muslims. The narrative—said to be one of the most potent tools in recruiting Muslims to violent jihad—was first put forth by CAIR-NY head Zead Ramadan in an interview Monday with Iranian state-controlled Press TV. During the discussion, Ramadan compared the situation of Muslims in America to that of Jews under Nazi rule.

Alexandra Pelosi Interviews Welfare Recipients in NYC
Been around, but worth seeing if you missed it. Frustrating. The day of reckoning is coming, with entitlement riots. ~Bob.

High Unemployment the New Normal: The headline unemployment statistics are wrong. Unemployment is higher than 8.1 percent and it will be for a while. By Anthony Randazzo
Excerpt: Compared to an unemployment rate that was well above 10 percent in the early part of the Obama Administration, 8.1 percent sounds nice. … In April 2012, labor force participation was 63.4, the lowest rate since January 1981.

Facebook Co-Founder Saverin Gives Up U.S. Citizenship Before IPO
Excerpt: Renouncing citizenship is an option chosen by increasing numbers of Americans. A record 1,780 gave up their U.S. passports last year compared with 235 in 2008, according to government records. Income-tax rates for top U.S. earners will rise to 39.6 percent from 35 percent next year and rates on capital gains and dividends also are scheduled to rise, unless Congress blocks the increases. (Chasing the geese who lay the golden eggs out of the country. Guess he didn’t want to pay his “fair share” or spread his wealth around. ~Bob.)

Rush Limbaugh Ponders Taking Over CNN
Excerpt: Today on the Rush Limbaugh show, the talk show radio host pondered the possibility of running things over at CNN his way. So what brought El Rushbo to pontificate on managing CNN? A caller.

Afghanistan; America's Willful Deception
Excerpt: The battlefield is as fluid as diplomatic efforts to shape the outcome are convoluted. While diplomacy during peacetime can be described as the efforts between two national representatives to overcome obstacles to a good, healthy and mutually productive relationship, diplomacy during hostilities cannot.

President Me
Excerpt: Reflecting on his two terms in office, President George W. Bush said in 2010, "You realize you're not it. You're a part of something bigger than yourself." This is a sentiment President Barack Obama did not inherit from his successor. Over the past month we have witnessed several displays of arrogant power emanating from our White House, emphasizing fealty to a person over the integrity of an American institution. Some are more serious than others.

Judge to lead Greece to fateful June 17 election
Excerpt: Greeks have been withdrawing hundreds of millions of euros (dollars) from banks in recent days as the prospect of the country being forced out of the European Union's common currency zone seems ever more real - although there has so far been no sign of a run on bank branches in Athens.

Salafi MP advocates female circumcision, says Suzanne Mubarak banned it
Gee, better send him the leftist “FGM is cultural, nothing to do with Islam” memo. ~Bob. Excerpt: Female circumcision is part of the prophetic Sunnah, said MP Nasser al-Shaker of the Salafi-led Nour Party, who previously proposed a bill that would allow the practice. … Imam Mohamed Sayed Tantawi, Abdel Halim Mahmoud, former Islamic Research Academy member Sheikh Attiya Saqr and former Egyptian Mufti Nasr Farid Wasel — all prominent Egyptian religious figures, the first three of whom have died — had all authorized the practice, also known as female genital mutilation, Shaker said.

Obama’s Bain Blame Game. By Jacob Laksin
Excerpt: This week, the Obama reelection campaign unrolled a television ad to run in five swing states that essentially recycles Perry’s attacks on Romney and Bain. The ad, called “Steel,” features interviews with former employees at GST Steel, a Kansas City, Missouri, steel mill that was taken over by Bain in the 1990s and filed for bankruptcy in 2001.

Obamacare’s Patient-Dumping, Privacy-Meddling Scheme. By Michelle Malkin
Excerpt: A shadowy $10 billion Obamacare agency with zero oversight just awarded first lady Michelle Obama’s pet patient-dumping scheme at the University of Chicago Medical Center a $5.9 million taxpayer-funded grant. … The Chicago program, known as the Urban Health Initiative, is run by one of President Obama’s closest golfing buddies, scandal magnet Eric Whitaker, who has been entangled with Illinois corruption celebrities Rod Blagojevich and Tony Rezko over the past decade.

Disarming US as wolves lie in wait
Excerpt: Pentagon officials have warned of elevated risks, worried that we’ll no longer be the global power we are today if another $500 billion is slashed from the defense budget, as is planned for year’s end. Yet some Americans seem to be living in a blissful bubble, oblivious to a world rife with trouble and threats to US security. In some corners, American leadership is not only out of fashion, it’s frowned upon.

Beijing to 'Clean Out' Illegal Workers: Government's 100-Day Campaign Comes Amid an Online Debate Over Foreigners' Behavior in China
Excerpt: Beijing launched a 100-day campaign to "clean out" foreigners living or working illegally in the city amid a fervent online debate over the behavior of outsiders in China. The campaign was announced in state media as well as on Peaceful Beijing, the official Beijing Public Security Bureau account on popular Twitter-like microblogging site Sina Weibo. (They should call it, “The Society of Righteous and Harmonious Fists.” Maybe BO can learn from them. ~Bob.)

George Zimmerman Medical Report Released, Faces Possible Hate Crime Charge
Excerpt: According to a medical report from George Zimmerman's family physician, the neighborhood watch volunteer was diagnosed with lacerations to the back of his head, a "closed fracture" of his nose, a pair of black eyes and a minor back injury the day after his fatal confrontation with Trayvon Martin, ABC News reports. The three-page medical report is included in court documents that the state of Florida made public Monday, which also contained 911 calls, non-emergency calls, photos, video, medical records and a number of hardcopy documents. (The more information that comes out, the less likely it appears that any crime was committed. In the meantime, this poor guy’s life is trashed for sport. I’m surprised no one has reported what brand of toilet paper he uses and whether he uses it front-to-back or back-to-front. If he’s found not guilty, I really hope he can find a lawyer willing to sue NBC and every other company or individual who helped create this institutional defamation of his character. Just by the way, has anyone else noticed that not one single picture, not a team picture, not a yearbook photo, no family snapshot of the 17-year-old, 6'3" Martin showing more than a face has been released, leaked, or found; we are shown only the small, skinny 13-year-old's photo. Given the ubiquitous presence of camera-phones and their frequent use by teens, it is impossible that no "current" images exist. Ron P. Not “trashed for sport” Ron. Trashed to gain political and financial power for the race baiters. There have been Martin photos from his Twitter account, “@NO_LIMIT_NIGGA,” now deleted, showing him flipping the bird at the camera. But they got little play in the media. ~Bob.)

The federal government wants to investigate J.P. Morgan for losing $2 billion. The federal government loses $2 billion before lunch every single day."

The Graying of Green?: The writing is on the wall—in increasingly large type. By David Solway
Excerpt: It has been reliably estimated by many researchers into the subject of “Global Warming” (or any of the other sobriquets by which it is known) that in fulfilling the draconian prescriptions of the Kyoto Accord or its successors, such as the United Nations IPCC’s Fourth Assessment Report, millions of jobs will be lost in the developed world, the quality of life in the industrialized nations will sink to substandard levels, and the inhabitants of the Third World will be deprived of the minimal immunities, comforts, and amenities to which they aspire.

General Order #1 - Standards of Conduct
Excerpt: Members will not consume any alcohol (unless approval is given from an O-6 in the Chain of Command). Members will not solicit prostitutes or engage in conduct which is unprofessional or unbecoming as a member of the Armed forces (no mention made if approval to do so can be obtained from an O-6 in the Chain of Command). (The "official" explanation is that it is to prevent what happened with the Secret Service and military personnel in Columbia. The real reason is definitely a failure of leadership at the flag officer level. Next will be reissue of liberty cards for everyone below flag rank. MasterGuns. Back in “The Old Corps,” the prostitutes solicited us! Unfortunately, we didn’t get paid much. ~Bob.)

Dems Wisconsin Apocalypse
Excerpt: Worse for Democrats, the PPP poll showed Obama leading Romney by just one point, 47 percent to 46 percent. In 2008, Obama beat McCain by 14 points, 56-42, and Walker defeated Barrett 52-46 in 2010. This means that, at least in Wisconsin, the 2012 electorate is looking much much more like it did in 2010 than it did in 2008. If that holds true nationally, Obama will lose big. (While encouraging, I prefer not to enumerate my fowl prior to the completion of incubation. ~Bob.)

Mother kills daughter to protect family name

Mosques' advice: 'don't report abusive husbands'
Excerpt: Six of the mosques also advised the women against reporting spousal abuse to the police. Leaders at another mosque were divided on the issue, while women received vague advice from yet another mosque.

Medal of Honor to be awarded Vietnam Veteran Army SPC4 Leslie H. Sabo Jr
Excerpt: On May 16, President Barack Obama will posthumously award Specialist Leslie H. Sabo, Jr., U.S. Army, the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry.

Excerpt: If you live in a swing state, expect to see a lot of this ad in the coming month, as Crossroads GPS is going to spend $25 million to air it in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

"Womanhood"
Good web ad. ~Bob.

Excerpt: Three years ago, President Obama cut a secret deal with pharmaceutical company lobbyists to secure the industry’s support for his national health care law. Despite Obama’s promises during his campaign to run a transparent administration, the deal has been shrouded in mystery ever since. But internal emails obtained by House Republicans now provide evidence that a deal was struck and GOP investigators are promising to release more details in the coming weeks.

Liberals Ruin Everything. By Christopher Chantrill
Excerpt: Because I don't think it will be close. That's because this lot, as the Brits say, don't have it sorted -- unlike Bill Clinton in the 1990s, who knew how to seduce the middle class. It's a point of pride among urban liberals around the president not to understand the ordinary American.

CNN Calls Out Obama Campaign Over Romney Ad
Excerpt: The controversial and inaccurate anti-Romney ad from the Obama campaign hit another speed bump today as CNN attacked the ad. During a live segment on Tuesday afternoon, Ashleigh Banfield unleashed on Obama campaign press secretary Ben LaBolt about the accuracy of the ad trying to link Romney to a steel plant that closed two years after Romney left Bain Capital. (They must be shocked—too used to the media covering for them. Will the press start to do its job? ~Bob.)

Worth Reading: The EU at the Abyss. By Victor Davis Hanson
Excerpt: But as Greece falls apart, and as panic spreads to other debtors, we are starting to see a stage II political crisis, with socialists and extremists, both left and right, revolting over “austerity” — or rather over the mere taste of austerity that has never been really swallowed in whole. But all the defiant nationalist showboating and whipping up of domestic constituents will not bring salvation, just more polarization outside their borders.

Did a WikiLeaks document doom Iranian ‘Mossad agent’?
Excerpt: WikiLeaks may have been responsible for exposing Majid Jamali Fashi, the 24-year-old kickboxer who was hanged in Tehran on Tuesday morning after “confessing” to assassinating a nuclear scientist on behalf of Israel, a British media report said.
The Times of London reported Wednesday that a document from the US Embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan, seemingly drew attention to Fashi. (If he was the hit man, he may have kept your family from being incinerated. Okay with me if somebody wants to terminate the Wikileaks folks. ~Bob.)
