Political Digest September 11, 2010

I post articles because I think they are of interest. Doing so doesn’t mean that I necessarily agree (or disagree) with every—or any—opinion in the posted article.

September 11, 2010
On this 9th Anniversary of the Jihadist Attacks on America and the murder of almost 3,000 innocent people in the name of Allah, please do not do anything to offend Muslims. Do not criticize anything in the Qur’an and the Hadith. Do not practice your faith where it will offend them. Do not criticize them for persecuting Christians and Jews in Muslim ruled lands, or for child marriages sanctioned by the perfect example of Mohammad (Peace Be upon Him) as reported in Bukhari vol. 7, #65:"Narrated Aisha that the prophet wrote the marriage contract with her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years.” Bukhari is considered one of the strongest and most scared of the Hadith (also called the Sunna), the traditions of the Companions of the Prophet, and thus it’s not to be questioned when many Muslim countries establish nine as the marriage age for girls.

Ignore the daily catalog of murders, stonings, violence and riots in the name of Allah, but remember that “Islam is a Religion of Peace.” Ignore insults such as Muslims burning or trampling the America flag, and condemn any insult to Islam, such as burning the Qur’an. Do not criticize Muslims for executing rape victims, because the Qur’an says that, absent four male Muslim witnesses, it’s not rape but adultery, which is of course punishable by stoning. Do not criticize the genital mutilation of little girls, as that is part of many cultures, even some non-Muslim cultures, and every culture is equally valid. Do not complain that Christians and Jews cannot build places of worship in many Muslim countries, or even enter Mecca, as doing so would offend Muslims. Do not point out that polygamy victimizes women, who are often no more than children, but remember that some fundamentalist Mormons in our country practice it as well, so that makes it all right. And please stop bringing up the Muslim honor killings of wives, sisters and daughters, as that is part of their culture, and they have a right to practice their culture here just as we do. But we cannot practice our culture in Muslim lands because that would offend them.

Do not question that under Islamic Shari’a law a woman can only inherit half of what a man does, and her testimony is worth only half of a man’s, or that she can be divorced and left destitute, but not divorce an abusive husband, because that was decreed by Allah through his Prophet, and can’t be changed from what it was in the 7th century. Certainly don’t offend by pointing out that the Holy Qur’an allows wives to be beaten and recognizes slavery, allowing forced sex with slave girls (that which your right hand possesses).

Don’t mention that Iran hangs gays, as they are offended if you suggest there are gay Muslims. Do not complain if Muslims are given special time off at work or school to pray. And if footbaths have to be installed to make Muslims feel welcome, it’s only fair for everyone to pay for them.

And, especially, do not suggest that the main victims of the Islamists are the millions of peaceful Muslims who only want to lead quiet lives, especially Muslim women and Muslim children. Given that most of the murder victims of the Islamists are fellow Muslims, why should we complain?

Just honor the 9/11 victims by shutting up. That will show that you are tolerant and not “Islamophobic.” Thank you. ~Bob

Predicting 9/11
In August of 1998, I published an op ed column in the Courier Post entitled “America’s War on Terror will be long, slow and cruel,” which pretty much predicted 9/11. It’s posted here, under my predictions for the next 9/11: The Next Terrorist attack on America
http://tartanmarine.blogspot.com/2009/09/essay-next-terrorist-attack-on-america.html

9/11 on the History Channel
Thursday Night (9/9/10), the History Channel ran a special on Rick Rescorla, the heroic Vietnam vet for, as director of security for Morgan Stanley, got almost all of their employees out of the World Trade Center alive, before being killed himself searching for stragglers. It was followed by a two-hour review of the events of 9/11, with details on key players. Highly recommended if they run it again.

The Secret Files 9/11 Investigators Missed
http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-09-10/911-mystery-nsa-files-on-al-qaeda-attack-never-probed/?om_rid=Mqh-D0&om_mid=_BMii1nB8UnWID6

Excerpt: Are many of the secrets of 9/11 still hidden in top-secret government files? Almost certainly, say former staff members of the 9/11 Commission. With the nation scheduled to mark the ninth anniversary of the terrorist attacks this weekend, former staffers tell The Daily Beast it is clear that the 9/11 Commission, which went out of business in 2004, failed to conduct a thorough inspection of the government's most important library of raw intelligence on al Qaeda and the 9/11 plot. And nobody appears to have inspected that intelligence since. The archives, maintained by the National Security Agency at its headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland, were reviewed—in a cursory fashion—only in the final days of the commission's investigation, and then only because of last-minute staff complaints that the NSA's vast database was being ignored. Throughout its investigation, staffers complained, the commission's leaders were fixated on what could be found in the terrorism files of the CIA and the FBI, the two big targets for criticism in the panel's final report, and largely ignored the NSA, the government's chief eavesdropping agency. When the commission did get into the NSA archives during a frantic, down-to-the-wire weekend search in June 2004, it found explosive material suggesting links between the 9/11 plotters and the government of Iran and the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militants of Lebanon. The Iran material was forced into the commission's final report with limited context and without any chance for followup by the commission; the panel was about to shut down.

Fla. minister cancels burning of Qurans on 9/11
http://www.resistnet.com/forum/topic/show?id=2600775%3ATopic%3A2581208&xgs=1&xg_source=msg_share_topic

And will Muslims now stop burning or desecrating the American flag? ~Bob. Excerpt: The leader of a small Florida church that espouses anti-Islam philosophy says he is canceling plans to burn copies of the Quran on Sept. 11. Pastor Terry Jones said Thursday that he decided to cancel his protest because the leader of a planned Islamic Center near ground zero has agreed to move its controversial location. The agreement couldn't be immediately confirmed. Jones' plans to burn Islam's holiest text Saturday sparked an international outcry.

Don’t Make Me Behead You!
http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/27482

Excerpt: “But if we don’t do this right, anger will explode in the Muslim world. If we don’t do things correctly, this crisis could become much bigger than the Danish cartoon crisis [over images depicting the Prophet Mohammed], which resulted in attacks on Danish embassies in various parts of the Muslim world. And we have a much bigger footprint in the Muslim world.” ~Faisal Abdul Rauf. The flim flam imam ought to run for congress. It’s just a matter of time before the Democrats recruit him. He’s a natural master of doublespeak. Rauf issued his warning about inflaming the normally peaceful and tolerant Muslim world right after assuring us that had he the slightest inkling that building a Victory Mosque at Ground Zero would cause upset, he never would have proposed such a thing. Of course, if the Victory Mosque doesn’t go forward, we will be severely punished. Be nice to the jihads and maybe they’ll behead you last. The alleged constitutional scholar, Barack Obama is demanding a complete and unconditional surrender to Muslim extremism. Rauf’s right to build a Victory Mosque 600 feet from the 9/11 massacre is absolute and protected by the Constitution. Presumably, he means the U.S. Constitution. The right of a private citizen in Florida to toss a few Korans onto the barbeque is, however, hate speech and is not only intolerable and offensive, but will cause Islamoterrorists to quit baking cookies and join the jihad.

Must read: Mosque of conquest?
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?pageId=194997

Extensive history of how the “Religion of Peace” celebrated its conquests of other religions. ~Bob. Excerpt: Muslim groups are proposing a 13-story $100 million mosque in the most prominent spot in America – the heart of downtown New York City near the World Trade Center site. Is this mosque a sign of America's tolerance, or is it a sign of Muslim conquest? The past may hold answers: In 630, Muhammad led 10,000 Muslim soldiers into Mecca and turned the pagans' most prominent spot, the Ka'aba, into the Masjid al-Haram Mosque. In 634, Rightly Guided Caliph Umar conquered Syria and turned the Christians' most prominent spot, the Church of Job, famous for being visited by Saint Silva in the fourth century, into the Mosque of Job. In 637, Caliph Umar conquered Hebron and turned the second-most prominent spot in Judaism, the Cave of the Patriarchs, into the Ibrahimi Mosque. (This was repeated by Saladin in 1188.) In 638, Muslim generals Amr ibn al-As and Khalid ibn al-Walid conquered Gaza and turned the prominent fifth-century Byzantine church into the Great Mosque of Gaza. In 638, Caliph Umar conquered Jerusalem. In 691, Caliph Al-Malik ordered the Dome of the Rock built on the most prominent spot in Judaism, the Temple Mount, followed by Caliph Al-Walid building the Al-Aqsa Mosque there in 705.

The Eternal Flame of Muslim Outrage
http://townhall.com/columnists/MichelleMalkin/2010/09/10/the_eternal_flame_of_muslim_outrage

Excerpt: Shhhhhhh, we're told. Don't protest the Ground Zero mosque. Don't burn a Koran. It'll imperil the troops. It'll inflame tensions. The "Muslim world" will "explode" if it does not get its way, warns sharia-peddling imam Feisal Abdul Rauf. Pardon my national security-threatening impudence, but when is the "Muslim world" not ready to "explode"? At the risk of provoking the ever-volatile Religion of Perpetual Outrage, let us count the little-noticed and forgotten ways. Just a few months ago in Kashmir, faithful Muslims rioted over what they thought was a mosque depicted on underwear sold by street vendors. The mob shut down businesses and clashed with police over the blasphemous skivvies. But it turned out there was no need for Allah's avengers to get their holy knickers in a bunch. The alleged mosque was actually a building resembling London's St. Paul's Cathedral. A Kashmiri law enforcement official later concluded the protests were "premeditated and organized to vitiate the atmosphere." Indeed, art and graphics have an uncanny way of vitiating the Muslim world's atmosphere. In 1994, Muslims threatened German supermodel Claudia Schiffer with death after she wore a Karl Lagerfeld-designed dress printed with a saying from the Koran. In 1997, outraged Muslims forced Nike to recall 800,000 shoes because they claimed the company's "Air" logo looked like the Arabic script for "Allah." In 1998, another conflagration spread over Unilever's ice cream logo -- which Muslims claimed looked like "Allah" if read upside-down and backward (can't recall what they said it resembled if you viewed it with 3D glasses).

Muslim Persecution of Hindus In India -- The Story You Won't See In the Western Mainstream Media
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2010/09/09/phyllis-chesler-hindu-human-rights-muslim-islamic-terrorism/

They should just explain to them that “Islam is a Religion of Peace” and all would be well. ~Bob. Excerpt: They are crossing the border illegally and violently displacing the indigenous population whose homes and possessions they either destroy or occupy. They are attacking the young, the elderly, and especially the girls and women, whom they kidnap, forcibly convert, or traffic into brothels. The locals are terrified of them. The police rarely come to their aid, nor do the politically correct media or government. Both are terrified by the criminals and terrorists who are riding these immigrant waves. I am not talking about illegal immigrants to Europe or North America. I am describing Muslims who are penetrating India’s West Bengal region. These Bangladeshi immigrants are becoming conduits for criminal activities (arms, drugs, and sexual slavery) which also fund global jihad. You won’t read about this in the Western mainstream media—or even in the Indian media, which has turned a blind eye to this ongoing tragedy because they are afraid to be labeled “politically incorrect” or “Islamophobic.” They are also afraid of reprisals. When Islamic zealots ransacked the office of the renowned newspaper, ‘The Statesman’ in Kolkata, in retaliation for a mere reproduction of an article condemning Islamic extremism, the Indian press remained silent. The editor and publisher of the newspaper were arrested for offending Muslim sentiments and no action was taken against the rioters.

Plea deal possible for airline "underwear jihadist"
http://www.jihadwatch.org/2010/09/plea-deal-possible-for-airline-underwear-jihadist.html

Excerpt: A plea deal. For an enemy combatant and jihadist who came so close to massacring hundreds, in a case that could not be more airtight in terms of evidence and witnesses. It should not be within the realm of possibility that Abdulmutallab could ever be a free man again. And yet, somehow, it is. What does the government expect to gain in comparison to what it is willing to give up, especially when Abdulmutallab has reportedly been cooperating all along? 9Maybe he could perform community service, like help build the Ground zero Mosque. ~Bob.)

Left-wing protestor asks black conservative ‘What happened to your African religion? You’re supposed to be Muslim’
http://commonamericanjournal.com/?p=18759

Excerpt: A group of black conservatives were explaining their affiliation with the Tea Party movement during the “Restoring Honor” event in Washington, DC. A couple of liberal counter-protesters began challenging their political and religious beliefs and asked why they affiliated with Christianity, a “white man’s religion”. (Apparently ignorant of history, in that Muslims were and are the largest enslavers of black Africans. Does this mean that liberals think Obama is really supposed to be a Muslim? ~Bob.)

Diana Furchtgott-Roth: Rebuild the Ground Zero Orthodox church
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columns/Rebuild-the-Ground-Zero-Orthodox-church-799449-102569249.html

Excerpt: On September 11, 2001, terrorists attacked America. They attacked us at work. They attacked us at home. They attacked the innocent and defenseless. They attacked everything we believe in. They killed more than 3,000 innocent Americans, including my beautiful friend Barbara Olson. We have rebuilt, and we are strong. We rebuilt the Pentagon wing. We are rebuilding a memorial at the World Trade Center. We are rebuilding America. Iraq, formerly a haven for terrorism, is a free country with democratic elections. But we have not rebuilt St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, on the site of Ground Zero, which was completely destroyed in the attacks. Nothing was left except some Bibles, candlestick pieces and a bell clapper. Parishioners are meeting in Brooklyn, rather than at their own house of worship. This needs to be remedied. We cannot let terrorists destroy a church, which was there since 1916.

9th Circuit throws out CIA torture lawsuit for national security reasons
http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-rendition-20100909,0,419570.story

Excerpt: Five foreign men who say they were kidnapped and tortured by the CIA cannot sue the Boeing Co. subsidiary that helped spirit them away for interrogations because of the risk of secret intelligence matters being exposed at trial, a sharply divided federal appeals court ruled Wednesday. The decision in the closely watched case was a significant victory for the Obama administration because it recognized a president’s power to protect wartime actions from judicial scrutiny by invoking the state secrets doctrine. The civil rights lawyer who represented the alleged victims of the Bush administration’s “extraordinary rendition” program said the ruling, if allowed to stand, means the United States has “closed its courtroom doors to torture victims.” The majority in the 6-5 ruling of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals “reluctantly” concluded that national security interests in the case were paramount to “even the most compelling necessity” to protect fundamental principles of liberty and justice. (Hard to believe this decision came out of the 9th District, even by such a thin majority. Ron P.)

Obama directs $4.5M to Democratic campaigns
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/117835-obama-directs-45-million-to-aid-democratic-campaigns

Excerpt: The money is a high-profile act by the president to demonstrate a financial commitment to Democratic candidates. President Obama ordered a hefty $4.5 million transferred from his campaign account on Thursday to help Democratic candidates across the country. Obama directed that $1.5 million be sent to each of the party's committee's in charge of House and Senate races, as well as the Democratic National Committee (DNC). The cash is set to provide additional assistance to Democrats as they work to protect their congressional majorities in this fall's elections. The money is also a high-profile act by the president to demonstrate a financial commitment to backing many of the incumbents who are feeling the heat from GOP candidates on the campaign trail. "The Obama for America and DNC commitments to this year's elections represent the largest commitment of resources the Democratic Party has ever made toward a midterm election," said DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse.

Obama to face hungry press corps
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/117981--obama-to-go-toe-to-toe-with-hungry-press-corps

I’m starting a pool on how many times he says “inherited.” ~Bob. Excerpt: With his presidency at a crossroads, President Obama will face the media Friday at his first press conference since the spring. As an increasing number of political analysts predict that Republicans will win the House this fall, Obama on Friday will defend his economic policies and hope to fend off questions about his weakened political standing. The key for Obama will be to stay on message -- vote Democrat or return to the policies of the George W. Bush administration -- as reporters try to get the president to make news. Obama addressed some of the most burning questions by sitting down for a TV interview while traveling to Cleveland on Wednesday. In an interview with George Stephanopolous for ABC's "Good Morning America" that aired Thursday, Obama was asked repeatedly about Republican criticisms of his economic policies and the coming debate over whether to extend Bush's tax cuts.

S.D. Democratic Rep. Sandlin gives Obama a 'C' grade
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2010/09/democrat-gives-obama-a-c-grade.html?wprss=44

Grade inflation! ~Bob. Excerpt: Rep. Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin (D-S.D.) and Republican challenger Kristi Noem weighed in Thursday on their respective campaigns, President Obama and Sarah Palin. Both Herseth-Sandlin and Noem are in a tight battle for South Dakota's lone House seat and were interviewed for ABC's "Top Line." Asked what grade she would give President Obama, Herseth-Sandlin gave the president average overall marks (about 5 minutes into the video). "I think that I would give him in the C-range overall. Because I think on some issues, especially navigating some pretty tough economic waters that he inherited, he's done better than people are giving him credit for," Sandlin said. The Democrat then turned to issues of ethanol, biodiesel and "an understanding of rural America" and "forestry issues" - all issues on which Herseth-Sandlin thought the president's work had been less than satisfactory. Noem's campaign pounced on the remark. In a press release, campaign spokesman Joshua Shields responded saying, "The incumbent should be sent to the back of the class for supporting the Obama-Pelosi agenda more than 9 out of 10 times." The discussion turned to Noem, and Herseth-Sandlin's feelings about her competitor, "I feel like she sticks pretty closely to the partisan talking points, and I offer solutions and I put ideas on the table and talk about my record." The point was an echo of Noem's response when she was asked about Sandlin. Noem immediately turned to the health care overhaul bill and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "When you really start looking and pointing out her voting record and voting with Nancy Pelosi 9 out of 10 times, and you look at the health care bill, she did vote against it but since then has said she won't repeal it...South Dakotans don't understand being on both sides of that issue."

The Fix: Obama to Campaign—Feingold putting distance?
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/morning-fix/-1-2-3-6.html?wprss=thefix

President Barack Obama will be hitting the campaign trail in earnest over the next month, with planned visits in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Nevada….The first stop will be a Sept. 28 trip to Madison, Wisconsin, where Obama will headline a rally "focused on young people and the change that matters to them," according to the Democratic National Committee…..Watch to see which candidates are - and aren't - around when Obama comes visiting. Sen. Russ Feingold's (D-Wisc.) camp has already said that he'll be busy with votes in Washington when the president comes to town later this month.

Babies Bring in the Bread
http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2010/08/obamaland-the-welfare-state-and-the-road-to-serfdom.html

Excerpt: I was speaking to an emergency room physician this morning. He told me that a woman in her 20’s came to the ER with her 8th pregnancy. She stated “my momma told me that I am the breadwinner for the family.” He asked her to explain. She said that she can make babies and babies get money for the family. The scam goes like this: The grandma calls the Department of Child and Family Services and states that the unemployed daughter is not capable of caring for these children. DCFS agrees and states that the child or children will need to go to foster care. The grandma then volunteers to be the foster parent, and thus receives a check for $1500 per child per month in Illinois. Total yearly income: $144,000 tax-free, not to mention free healthcare (Medicaid) plus a monthly “Linx” card entitling her to free groceries, etc, and a voucher for 250 free cell phone minutes per month. This does not even include Wick and other welfare programs. Indeed, grandma was correct in that her fertile daughter is the “breadwinner” in the family.

Obama Added More to National Debt in First 19 Months Than All Presidents from Washington Through Reagan Combined, Says Gov’t Data
http://www.resistnet.com/forum/topic/show?id=2600775%3ATopic%3A2581575&xgs=1&xg_source=msg_share_topic

Well, you can’t give him all the credit. Reid and Pelosi took over the Congress in the 2006 election and got a head start adding debt. ~Bob. Excerpt: In the first 19 months of the Obama administration, the federal debt held by the public increased by $2.5260 trillion, which is more than the cumulative total of the national debt held by the public that was amassed by all U.S. presidents from George Washington through Ronald Reagan. The U.S. Treasury Department divides the federal debt into two categories. One is “debt held by the public,” which includes U.S. government securities owned by individuals, corporations, state or local governments, foreign governments and other entities outside the federal government itself. The other is “intragovernmental” debt, which includes I.O.U.s the federal government gives to itself when, for example, the Treasury borrows money out of the Social Security “trust fund” to pay for expenses other than Social Security. At the end of fiscal year 1989, which ended eight months after President Reagan left office, the total federal debt held by the public was $2.1907 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office. That means all U.S. presidents from George Washington through Ronald Reagan had accumulated only that much publicly held debt on behalf of American taxpayers. That is $335.3 billion less than the $2.5260 trillion that was added to the federal debt held by the public just between Jan. 20, 2009, when President Obama was inaugurated, and Aug. 20, 2010, the 19-month anniversary of Obama's inauguration.

Soros Watch: $45 million to sabotage America’s judiciary
http://michellemalkin.com/2010/09/09/soros-watch-45-million-to-sabotage-americas-judiciary/

Excerpt: Over the past 10 years, a highly-coordinated, well-funded campaign has been underway to fundamentally alter the composition of America’s state courts. The campaign’s goal: exclude conservative, rule-of-law judges from the bench. This campaign has been bankrolled by George Soros, a hedge fund operator with a net worth of $13 billion, according to the Forbes 400 list of the world’s richest people. This multi-million dollar campaign to reshape our courts encompasses efforts to revise state constitutions, rewrite judicial recusal rules, abolish democratic judicial elections, and impose a judicial selection system that will transfer power from the people to a small, unelected and unaccountable commission comprised primarily of legal elites, typically representing powerful special interest groups, such as state trial lawyers associations.

EDITORIAL: AMA vs. greedy lawyers
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/sep/7/ama-vs-greedy-lawyers/

Excerpt: A proposed special-interest tax break for plaintiffs' lawyers would add billions of dollars in federal spending and jack up costs to consumers. It's nothing more than a direct subsidy from taxpayers to ambulance chasers. That was the message of a strongly worded letter to Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner from the American Medical Association, 42 national medical groups representing specialties such as radiology, cardiology and gastroenterology, and the medical associations of 47 states and the District of Columbia. The Treasury is considering an administrative ruling - as an end run around Congress - that would allow trial lawyers to take tax deductions upfront for client expenses the lawyers can later collect from clients if they win their cases. The AMA is right to blow the whistle on this naked political payoff to the trial lawyers who so lavishly fund liberal Democratic campaigns.

Obama to award living soldier the Medal of Honor
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/10/AR2010091002712.html?wpisrc=nl_natlalert

Excerpt: Under a bright Afghan moon, eight U.S. paratroopers trudged along a ridge in the Korengal Valley, unaware they were walking right into a trap. Less than 20 feet away, a band of Taliban fighters executed the ambush plan perfectly, enveloping the paratrooper squad in an explosion of bullets and grenades. Army Spec. Salvatore Giunta, a 22-year-old from Hiawatha, Iowa, was knocked flat by the gunfire; luckily, a well-aimed round failed to penetrate his armored chest plate. As the paratroopers tried to gather their senses and scramble for a shred of cover, Giunta reacted instinctively, running straight into the teeth of the ambush to aid three wounded soldiers, one by one, who had been separated from the others. Two paratroopers died in the Oct. 25, 2007, attack, and most of the others sustained serious wounds. But the toll would have been far higher if not for the bravery of Giunta, according to members of his unit and Army officials. On Friday, the White House announced that President Obama decided to award Giunta, now a sergeant, the Medal of Honor. He will become the first living recipient of the Medal of Honor who has served in any war since Vietnam. Six medals have been awarded posthumously to those who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan, a small fraction of those given during previous conflicts. In comparison, 246 Medals of Honor have been granted to those who fought in Vietnam, 133 for the Korean War and 464 for World War II. Defense Department officials say the criteria for the medal have not changed. But veterans groups, lawmakers and even some high-ranking military officials have questioned the official explanations. The relative lack of medals from Iraq and Afghanistan, they argue, has contributed to a lack of public appreciation of the sacrifices made by U.S. troops during the last nine years of war. "The whole thing is very political in the end, that's one of the sad things about it," said Joseph A. Kinney, an author and Vietnam veteran who has testified before Congress about the paucity of medals. "I think they just decided they were going to avoid awards of that nature" for Iraq and Vietnam. Think the last should read “Afghanistan.” ~Bob)

U.S. soldiers accused of murders
http://www.nationalpost.com/news/world/soldiers+accused+murders/3504121/story.html

Excerpt: A group of U.S. soldiers has been accused of killing Afghan civilians at random, then keeping body parts as trophies. Other soldiers have also been charged with conspiring to cover up the crimes, according to U.S. military authorities. All 12 of the men were members of a 2nd Infantry Division brigade operating near Kandahar in southern Afghanistan in 2009-10. According to military charging documents, Staff Sergeant Calvin Gibbs and four other soldiers were involved in throwing grenades at civilians, then shooting them in separate incidents, CNN reported. Three Afghan men died. Authorities allege Staff Sgt. Gibbs, the highest-ranking soldier involved, kept finger bones, leg bones and a tooth from Afghan corpses.

Repeal of birthright citizenship would swell ranks of U.S. unauthorized population
http://homelandsecuritynewswire.com/repeal-birthright-citizenship-would-swell-ranks-us-unauthorized-population

And your point is? Granting citizenship to everyone who sets foot in America would shrink the illegal population to zero…but bankrupt us even faster than Obama is doing. ~Bob. Excerpt: Passage of the House-introduced Birthright Citizenship Act, which would deny U.S. citizenship to children born to parents who are both unauthorized immigrants, would increase the unauthorized population from its current 10.8 million to 16 million by 2050; if U.S. citizenship is denied to children who have one unauthorized immigrant parent, the total unauthorized population would rise to 24 million in 2050 under a scenario in which citizenship is denied to U.S.-born children who have one unauthorized immigrant parent, even if the other parent were a U.S. citizen; under a scenario of denying birthright citizenship to children who have at least one authorized immigrant parent, by the third generation, 6.3 million U.S.-born people would be unauthorized despite having two U.S-born parents.

Illegal alien invasion impacts wildlife, hunters
http://www.kingmandailyminer.com/main.asp?SectionID=74&SubsectionID=604&ArticleID=39930

Excerpt: This time at daylight, the guide spotted another group of subjects, but these seven guys were dressed in camos, with five of them carrying huge backpacks. The guy in the front had what appeared to be an AR-type rifle, while the guy in the back was toting an AK-47. "Those are guys you don't want to run into," my guide said to the client. At that point, the hunter said to the guide in no uncertain terms, "I'm out of here!" Seemed he was carrying a .44 magnum handgun but was a little spooked about running into these heavily armed hombres. They went back to camp and the client loaded up and went home, his javelina hunt over.

Border problems putting the United States at risk
http://www.austindailyherald.com/2010/09/09/column-border-problems-putting-the-united-states-at-risk/

Excerpt: Imagine the federal government closing the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, Black Hills National Park or Yellowstone due to the presence of drug and human smugglers. By the way, the parks would be closed indefinitely because the drug cartels and human smugglers are so dangerous and prolific that the entire law enforcement community cannot stop them. Sounds outrageous, doesn’t it? Like something out of a fictional movie, maybe? Impossible scenario on US soil, right? This exact scenario is reality in entire sections of southern Arizona, where parts of five federal lands – including two designated national monuments – are posted with travel warnings or are outright closed to Americans who own the land because of the dangers of “human smugglers and drug trafficking” along the Mexican border. Federal land managers have placed some 48 signs throughout southern Arizona warning American citizens and property owners of the danger of entering selected areas due to illegal immigration traffic, armed drug runners and human smugglers. Since 2001 the bodies of over 1,750 men, women and children have been found in Arizona’s southern mountains and desert. Although the arrests of illegals have declined, immigrant deaths are increasing. In July 2010, Pinal County alone recorded 59 suspected deaths of individuals trying to cross the desert from Mexico. In March 2010 Arizona’s controversial 1070 legislation was sparked for passage when Arizona rancher Robert Krentz was murdered by a suspected illegal alien crossing his ranch.

Seven questions for Barack Obama

Little chance the “tingle leg” media will ask any hardball questions. ~Bob.

Quote from The Patriot Post www.patriotpost.us/subscribe/
"To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee to everyone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it." --Thomas Jefferson (Revered founder of the Democrat Party. ~Bob.)

Oh, the irony
The "Rev." Jesse Jackson was in Detroit recently to attend yet another march -- the "Jobs, Justice, and Peace" march promoting taxpayer-funded green jobs alongside UAW President Bob King. Writing for CNN, the Green One preached, "We need an economy that creates employment that can't be shipped overseas. Homegrown American labor will be installing windmills and solar panels. A green economy is not an abstract concept." Of course, Jesse doesn't practice what he preaches. While in the Motor City, he rented a gas-guzzling environment-destroying Cadillac Escalade -- which was then stolen and stripped of its wheels. He has to know this wouldn't have happened if he were driving a Prius. The Patriot Post www.patriotpost.us/subscribe/

Old Farmer's Almanac: Global cooling to continue
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iYZ8MkXEU-PbyfQOQYZiPUo7T5cQD9I3RN9G0
Won’t matter. You could have glaciers knocking down building in Miami and Al Gore would still be demanding that everyone but him reduce their carbon footprint. ~Bob. Excerpt: Most of the country will see a colder-than-usual winter while summer and spring will be relatively cool and dry, according to the time-honored, complex calculations of the "Old Farmer's Almanac." The 2011 issue of the almanac, which claims to be the nation's oldest continuously published periodical, was released Tuesday. It predicts that in the coming months, the Earth will continue to see a "gradual cooling of the atmosphere ... offset by any warming caused by increased greenhouse gases." The "Old Farmer's Almanac" also is forecasting a weak La Nina — a climate phenomenon marked by an unusual cooling of the sea surface in the tropical Pacific Ocean. Janice Stillman, editor of the almanac, said that means much of the eastern half of the United States will experience lower-than-normal temperatures with less snow while Mid-Atlantic states will see more snowfall than usual. The West will see a mild winter with average precipitation, she said. Meanwhile, the South will experience a cold and wet summer and the Rockies should see a mild and dry winter, according to the New Hampshire-based "Old Farmer's Almanac." "It'll be cold. There will be no mistaking winter," Stillman said. "But it may be a little shorter or we may see some small warm spells in places like the East Coast."

GOP insiders skeptical of landslide predictions
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/GOP-insiders-skeptical-of-landslide-predictions-799576-102570684.html

Excerpt: Things have gotten out of hand when it comes to predictions of a Republican victory in the upcoming midterm elections. In recent days, talk of a GOP edge has turned into talk of a GOP blowout. Prognosticators have upgraded the coming political storm from Category 4 to Category 5. Republican control of the House has gone from possible to inevitable. But Republicans don't believe it, or at least the insiders involved in the midterm effort don't believe it. As they see it, they're in a good position to pick up the 39 seats needed to win control of the House, but polls showing a huge GOP lead are simply wrong. "I'm assuming that Cook and Rothenberg and Rove and the others have got different indications from what we've got," says one member of the House GOP election team. "I don't want to overestimate what's out there." "I think it's about even," says a strategist involved in the GOP effort. "That is a remarkable place to be, given where we were in the '08 election. But it's about even."

As we ban our own offshore drilling, we’re subsidizing Mexico’s offshore drilling

Excerpt: The U.S. Export-Import Bank, an independent federal agency, loaned more than $1 billion to the Mexican state oil company PEMEX in 2009 to support the company’s oil drilling in the southern Gulf of Mexico. The bank has another $1 billion in loans in the pipeline for 2010, unless Congress objects. On May 27, after the British Petroleum oil spill, President Obama imposed a moratorium on U.S. deepwater drilling in the Gulf, effecting 33 deepwater drilling rigs in the region.

62% Say No Matter How Bad Things Are, Congress Can Make Them Worse
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/september_2010/62_say_no_matter_how_bad_things_are_congress_can_make_them_worse

Excerpt: Heading into the final weeks of the congressional election season, 62% of Likely U.S. Voters believe that no matter how bad things are, Congress can always make them worse. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 19% disagree, with 19% more not sure. This level of skepticism is shared by a majority of just about every partisan and demographic group, including 53% of Democrats whose party currently controls both houses of Congress. The only exception is the nation's Political Class. Seventy-five percent (75%) of voters in the political Mainstream say if something is not going well, Congress can always make it worse, but 63% of the Political Class disagree (see more on the Political Class-Mainstream divide).

41 Obama White House aides owe the IRS $831,000 in back taxes -- and they're not alone
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/09/congress-taxes-irs.html

Excerpt: Over the years a lot of suspicion has built up across the country about Washington and its population of opportunistic transients coming to see themselves as a special kind of person, somehow above average working Americans who don't labor down in that monument-strewn former swamp. Well, finally, an end to all those undocumented doubts. Thanks to some diligent digging by the Washington Post, those suspicions can at last be put to rest. They're correct. Accurate. Dead-on. Laser-guided. On target. Bingo-bango. As clear as it's always seemed to those Americans who don't feel special entitlements and do meet their government obligations. We now know that federal employees across the nation owe fully $1 billion in back taxes to the Internal Revenue Service. As in, 1,000 times one million dollars.
