Political Digest October 19, 2009

Have been on the road, but will try to pop up a few things.

Give war a chance
Excerpt: In Afghanistan, the situation is almost as bad because the countries of continental Europe are missing in action. Only Holland and Denmark allow their troops to conduct offensive combat operations. Large NATO nations like France, Spain and Italy refuse to confront the terrorists. They love Obama in those countries, but the love is shallow. He's asked Europe for more military help to defeat the Taliban and al-Qaida, two dangerous entities. Europe gives the president a double cheek kiss and does nothing, even though Great Britain has shamed them by sending 500 more troops to the Afghan theater. Many in the world despised Bush for acting alone in fighting the war on terror. Obama has promised to change the unilateral approach and seek consensus in defeating the bad guys. How's it going so far, Mr. President?

Living in fear
Excerpt: "We live in an age of fear." The first line of Not Evil Just Wrong: The True Cost of Global Warming Hysteria reverberates throughout the documentary as an indictment of the modern environmental movement. The film delves deep into what the heart of environmentalism is: creating an artificial crisis and devaluing ordinary human worth.

CNN apologizes for using fake Limbaugh quote to smear him

Obama disgusted with Israel
Excerpt: U.S. officials in recent days expressed to the Palestinian Authority that President Obama's administration is "disgusted" with Israel, a top aide to PA President Mahmoud Abbas told WND in an interview. Nimr Hamad said the White House was disgusted that Israel is refusing to halt all settlement activity as a precondition for re-starting talks with the PA over the creation of a Palestinian state. "Settlement activity" refers to Jewish construction in the West Bank and eastern sections of Jerusalem.

"You can't teach the Ten Commandments in public schools. But teaching the five pillars of Islam is A-OK."
Excerpt: Multiculturalism: California's educrats have put out new rules for teaching Islamic studies to seventh-graders in public schools, and they are as biased as ever. They'll also likely spread eastward. The lesson guidelines adopted by the bellwether state whitewash the violence and oppression of women codified in Islamic law, or Shariah. And they're loaded with revisionist history about the faith. For example, the suggested framework glorifies Shariah as a liberal reform movement that "rejected" the mistreatment of women that existed in Arabia before Muhammad and his successors conquered the region, according to Accuracy in Academia. The guidelines claim that Islamic law established for the first time that men and women were entitled to equal "respect."

Whipped for wearing a 'deceptive' bra: Hardline Islamists in Somalia publicly flog women in Sharia crackdown
Part of that “equal respect for women” Islam teaches, no doubt.

Muslim protesters: Freedom go to hell

Debacle in Moscow
Excerpt: What's come from Obama holding his tongue while Iranian demonstrators were being shot and from his recognizing the legitimacy of a thug regime illegitimately returned to power in a fraudulent election? Iran cracks down even more mercilessly on the opposition and races ahead with its nuclear program. What's come from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton taking human rights off the table on a visit to China and from Obama's shameful refusal to see the Dalai Lama (a postponement, we are told). China hasn't moved an inch on North Korea, Iran or human rights. Indeed it's pushing with Russia to dethrone the dollar as the world's reserve currency.
